1. What makes your soaps so good?

I don’t use any animal fats in my soap, they are vegan. Only high quality oils are used. I make them scented with only essential oils, no synthetic oils are used. In my handmade soaps there are no harsh detergents as you usually find in mass produced soaps, they retain all the glycerin. Not only do they smell great but they also lather up nicely and moisturize your skin.

2. How long will your soaps last?

Our soaps will keep for up to 18 months but we recommend you use them within 1 year.

3. I have sensitive skin, can I use your handmade soap?

We highly recommend you try handmade soap. All our soaps have natural beneficial oils as well as glycerin to help moisturize your skin. We do not use any synthetic’s, dyes, preservatives or petroleum products in our products. Our process produces a very mild soap. We think you will notice the difference.

4. Does your soap contain lye?

True soap cannot be made without lye – Sodium hydroxide for hard soap and potassium hydroxide for liquid soaps. Technically speaking, soap is actually an alkali salt of a fatty acid. The salt is formed as a result of the chemical reaction between an alkali [lye] and an acid [fatty acids found in fats and oils].

When the lye solution and liquid are mixed with the fats and oils, the molecules of the alkali join with the molecules of the fatty acids and the final result is soap. The chemical process is complete and all lye is reacted out. This is referred to as saponified oils.

Commonsense Precautions

As with any product that touches our skin, please discontinue use if irritation develops. Any product, even when made with the most natural, gentle ingredients can be irritating to certain sensitive individuals.

Soap should clean your skin but not leave it dry, irritated or itchy. Handmade soap is mild and cleanses your skin gently and softly. It has a clean scent and leaves your skin smooth with no residue.

Various oils are used, some common and some exotic, in the making of natural soaps which can include olive oil, palm oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, apricot kernel oil, almond oil, grape seed oil, hemp seed oil and coconut oil. Each oil has a slightly different property to it and different skin benefits. Some are better for dry skin or for people with eczema. Many people enjoy cocoa butter in their soaps for its soothing, moisturizing properties.


BENEFIT #2:
Handmade soap is chemical-free.

Some of the chemicals put in mass-produced soap are very drying and irritating to many people. The natural glycerin is stripped out of mass produced soap. Glycerin is a natural humectant and provides lubrication and smoothness. People with sensitive skin and certain allergies are often advised to purchase "Dove Soap" by their physicians because it is one of the few mass produced soaps that is "less" drying than others.

Each handmade soap has different ingredients and you can check the ingredients of each and choose the soap which is the best for your particular skin type or ailments. There are soaps for dry skin, normal skin, oily skin and combination skin.
